How Etsy fees work in 2026
Every Etsy sale carries up to four fees. Knowing exactly where each one comes from is the fastest way to price with confidence instead of guessing.
1. Listing fee: $0.20
You pay $0.20 to publish a listing, and it lasts four months or until it sells. When a multi-quantity listing sells, Etsy renews it automatically for another $0.20 per item sold. Over a year, a listing that never sells still costs $0.60 in renewals if you keep auto-renew on.
2. Transaction fee: 6.5% of item price, shipping and gift wrap
This is the biggest fixed fee for most shops. It is charged on the price the buyer pays for the item after your discount, plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge. Raising shipping to lower the item price doesn’t avoid it, because shipping is included. In the US, sales tax is excluded from this fee.
3. Payment processing: 3% + $0.25 in the US
Etsy Payments charges a percentage plus a flat fee per order, based on where your bank account is. It is calculated on the full order total, including shipping and any sales tax Etsy collects. Other countries pay 4% plus a local flat fee (for example £0.20 in the UK or €0.30 in the EU), and some pay more. Choose your country in the calculator above.
4. Offsite Ads: 12% or 15%, only on ad-driven orders
If a buyer clicks one of Etsy’s ads on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or another site and buys within 30 days, Etsy charges an Offsite Ads fee on the order total (capped at $100). It is 15% for shops under $10,000 in sales over the last 365 days and 12% above that. Larger shops can’t opt out, so price your best sellers to stay profitable even with the ad fee.
A worked example
You sell a $25 print with $5 shipping. The order total is $30. Etsy takes $0.20 (listing) + $1.95 (6.5% of $30) + $1.15 (3% of $30 + $0.25) = $3.30, or 11% of the order. After an $8 product cost and a $4 label, you keep $14.70, a 49% margin. If that same order came from an Offsite Ad at 15%, Etsy adds $4.50 and your profit falls to $10.20.
How to use the break-even and target-margin prices
The break-even price is the lowest item price that covers every fee and cost, so anything below it loses money. The target-margin price is what to charge to keep your chosen share of each order as profit. Check both with Offsite Ads switched on: if you can still make your margin when an ad fee applies, the listing is priced safely.
Five ways to keep more of each sale
- Price from your costs up, not from competitors down. Use the target-margin price as your floor.
- Bundle items or offer multi-packs. The $0.25 processing fee and your label cost are charged per order, not per item.
- Check real label costs after each month. Under-charged shipping is the most common hidden loss.
- Turn off auto-renew for listings that haven’t sold in a year.
- Review profit per listing monthly so you can spot products that lose money once fees and ads are counted.
